Been thinking about getting a brand new f22c (06+) engine block from majestic Honda. I can get it for a little less than 3k shipped..

I know I have to worry about harnesses and sensors, but I was also wondering if my 03 head would fit on the block? I was thinking about rebuilding the head as that would be cheaper and if possible, putting that on the f22 block. or would you guys recommend going with a brand new 06+ head?

any other things I should take into consideration? thx

The heads are completely interchangeable.

Also, don't quote me on this as I haven't done extensive research on this, but I'm pretty sure if you use an 04/05 F22 block (before Honda switched to DBW and modified the injection ports) you can even use the exact same AP1 wiring harness and sensors. I MAY BE WRONG THOUGH.


Edit: No matter what though, as someone from that thread mentions, make sure you don't exceed the factory F22 redline if you don't switch out the ECU. If all you do is swap the block there'll be nothing stopping you from running it up to 9K and possibly blowing it.

I wanted to get a brand new block.. 04/05 blocks are no longer available through dealerships..

but I think you may be right about the ap1 wiring harness and sensors fitting the 04/05

If you do get a brand new short block, make sure you break it in properly so the piston rings seal properly.

I know your engine won't be fully built, but I really like how liquid_helix described it in his latest for sale thread (scroll down to where he talks about breaking in the engine):

The most important thing is to vary the revs (don't just constantly cruise down highways at the same RPM), and change the oil often in the first 1000 miles.

So Honda of America doesn't sell 00-05 engine blocks anymore?

Most markets in the world kept the 2.0 litre motor throughout the s2000's production. I think it would be possible to order one from the closest country overseas to cut down on the shipping cost as much as possible? Just an idea to explore.

06 motor... You will need to pull the timing cover and change the trigger wheel and that is IT.

You will use your cylinder head, harness, everything.

Im am almost positive that majestic will not ship a motor even though they list it.

You forgot the crank sensor needs to be changed out as well.

But yeah, I don't think Majestic will ship engines.

No way man the engine doesn't come with a new one

But of course every sensor (knock, crank) will be swapped to the new block.

I'm not baller enough to buy a new engine, haha. I just figured they came with sensors. Good to know though.
