Default 2016 Sports Car/Endurance Racing - 19 Nov. WEC Bahrain

In hopes to get some more traffic and more discussion here, I am going to cross post from a thread on another forum I update pretty regular.

This post will contain the schedules and basic details of the 3 series' I follow. You guys are welcome to chime in with the Pirelli World Challenge, Continental Sports Car Series, Blancpain Series and any other you like.

Follow the series!

IMSA - IMSA app available on the app store. Live streaming when available along with timing and scoring for each Continental and Weathertech series race. Also gives notifications for race starts, very handy.

WEC - WEC app available in the app store.

WEC pass is available to purchase. €35 for full season including le mans, €25 without.. Some €4 per race seperately. Not bad at all. Believe it was €25ish last year. This can be bought on fiawec.com and they have a corresponding app. If you decide to purchase, be sure to use the email of itunes or whatever device you use.

If you're unfamiliar, it gives live streaming of the race and now they are allowing replay of the races for up to 3 weeks afterwards. It can be used on app via device and through a pc on their website.

Also, the ELMS has 7 entries for the new LMP3 class. Pretty interested to see these cars run.

And thank you. I remember watching the 24 hours of Le Mans on Speedvision back in the mid 90s as a child. Only recently i've been able to dive deeper and attend some races to really get into it. I love this stuff

Here is some more info on the LMP3 cars. I believe the Tudor series has been in talks with replacing the PC class with these cars.

The formula calls for a similar form as the higher-level prototypes, with a carbon chassis featuring a closed cockpit with longitudinal shark fin and FIA safety certification, to be built by any constructor that cares to participate. The width will be the same as an LMP1 or LMP2, but the length will be about six inches shorter and curb weight in the 1,900- to 2,000-pound range.

Though yet to be confirmed, all LMP3s will use the same V8 engine putting out about 420 horsepower with a Magneti Marelli engine management system and race support provided by the venerated racing outfit Oreca. Wheels will be similar to those used in the Porsche Cup, the whole package costing no more than 195,000 euros ($264k) with a running cost for an entire ELMS seasons coming in around 350-400k euros (about $473-540k). The cars are expected to be around two seconds per lap quicker on most circuits than an LM GTE racer.
Article is a little older, you can read and see more here.
