Default Boosted - Busted / Built - Blown....Back to stock

Definitely more of a lurker than poster...but I'm S2Ki member #13, so I've been around a while.

I'm on my third S2000 and unfortunately on my 3rd motor after going turbo...so I figured I'd post up a little of my trials and tribulations

Quick rundown:
Picked up a Full-Race turbo kit and boosted the stock motor of my '04. Due to a wastegate malfunction, I ended up overboosting on a highway pull (on 91 pump gas) and melting the pistons. Car sat for a year and a half until I could afford to rebuild it. Decided to go fully built for round 2...sent the motor off to a "reputable" shop to get sleeved and rebuilt with top of the line internals. Well after 1700 miles, it spun a bearing...all cylinder walls were scored, crank shot, etc (not here to bash or get into a big debate, so will just leave it at that). Car sat another 6 months while I decided which route to go. Was seriously considering doing a 2.4L stroker since I had a usable Darton sleeved block...but finally decided to pick up a brand new, zero mile fully assembled bottom end right from Honda. Since they have been discontinued, I figured it was now or never.

I didn't want to take any chances with the new motor, so I loaded the car on a trailer and hauled it down to my tuner to break it in on the dyno. I'm still on a break-in tune....450hp @ 14psi on E85 with rev limiter set at 6500

Specs:
2.2L OEM bottom end
URGE fully built turbo head w/ARP studs
Full-Race prostreet kit w/GTX3576R 1.06A/R
Hondata KPro V4
Walbro 450 in tank -> SOS surge tank w/twin AEM 320's
Fullblown fuel rail / FID 1200cc injectors - 8an feed / 6an return
Fullblown 74mm TB / port matched OEM IM

Broke the new motor in on Amsoil "break-in" oil (500 miles). Just switched to Amsoil "Dominator" 10w30 racing oil.

Full tune scheduled for this coming Tues....excited to have a running (and hopefully reliable) S2K again!

Looks great. Need more engine bay shots! I like the matching heat shield and cooling plate and the turbo/mani blanket looks nice. Good on ya for going through all that but sticking with it.

Everything matches....center console / CR interior

Half surprised I've stuck with it this long....I've only put 8000 miles on the car since I bought it 5.5 years ago due to all the problems I've had
