I thought Aisin made it as well??? Aisin makes the transmission in my Volvo.

Did Honda actually make the S2k gearbox? I thought (and I'm likely as not wrong) it was an Aisin gearbox. I also recall the rear end being the same one Mazda used in one of their cars (not the Miata of the time). Again I may be very wrong.
They made the gear box. The LSD was a torson diff.

I was under the impression they looked the same but it wasn't their tranny

"s2000 vs f-type" is a very misleading title for this thread....

The S2000 transmission started life as an Aisin, similar to what was/is found in the the Nissan S15, Mazda RX8, FR-S/BRZ, etc., but was heavily modified by Honda for better feel.

That would make sense. It seems unlikely even Honda would spend the money to design from scratch a RWD box given that no other Hondas would use that part and the volume is very low by Civic/Accord standards.
