Shall this hose be connected?
Just got a 2002 AP1 and found out the highlighted hose was disconnected. Instead the port was closed by a plastic cover.
Car is running OK.
Shall I connect this hose? Curious why it did not cause any problem when it's disconnected?
Thanks!

Did they disable the air pump system that is on your car ? That hose feeds the air valve on the air pump system which in turn feeds air into the exhaust ports on start up for emissions reasons. The previous owner may have disconnected the air pump system and it is likely running an Izzy bypass setup. Nothing wrong with that as long as it was done correctly.

Actually I remember not long ago there was a CEL on and read the code it was P0410, which is related to the secondary air pump. I cleared the code and so far it has not come back. If the connection is correct then the CEL will not come back right?

You might have some parts missing from the system, or the air pump system has been eliminated. If they had an Izzy kit to properly bypass the air pump system you wouldn't get a CEL. There a numerous parts and hoses to the air pump system, so it could be a lot of things.
