Default Okay, did my homework - but I still don't get it (wheel fitment)

So, I read the "Wheel fitment guide" HERE (excellent btw), and I think I understand everything

...but what I don't understand is why you see so many wheels listed for "Honda S2000" that are outside the recommended specs(?)

Here is a very obvious example on ebay, with "Buddy Club" wheels - a brand I would expect to have things in order. From what I read in the fitment guide, the ET is way too low (at least on the front). What am I missing?

Basically, because everyone seems obsessed with aligning the outside edge of the wheelrim with the wheelarch, when the critical point is to keep its centreline close to the original steering axis of inclination. Stance v uncorrupted steering, IOW.

That's why there's only a few (expensive!) Japanese wheels which may be truly considered a good fitment.

42 and 50 is not too low at all. Without checking I don't know if they would fit without arch work as they are 18's. If they were 17's they would definitely fit.

As I understand in the above mentioned fitment guide, the wheel diameter is not important. It all depends on how wide the tyre is. Again, according to the guide, ET42 can't even hold a 205 tyre?

So what's going on? ...is the guide wrong, or so many of the ebay listings?

Please note, that I'm not trying to question the guide. I just want a set of wheels - wide as possible but 100% free of rubbing

Sorry, I take it back, the fronts probably would need arch work but you should be ok with the rears.

Fair enough, thanks

So Buddy Club - or the seller on ebay at least (along with many many others) - is selling wheels that requires modification?

So in the FAQ

OEM Alloys
OEM MY00-03 wheel sizes and offsets are as follows:
Front: 16" x 6.5", +55 offset
Rear: 16" x 7.5", +65 offset

OEM MY04+ wheels are as follows:
Front: 17" x 7.0", +55 offset
Rear: 17" x 8.5", +65 offset

And using this offset calculator

Should give you an idea of how they sit. I would say you may need a little more camber as the extra width will stick out a little!

They will fit fine without any issues and without the need to roll
