I have a vintage race event there in late July. I think SCDA & Northeast Track Days may have a few track days scheduled. Here is a video from last October where I think Aashish was driving my car.

The rock bluffs are rather, uhm, interesting or should I say disconcerting.

The fellow who is developing the track told me he had miles of Jersey Barriers to install to keep us from hitting the rocks. There seemed to be some run off areas, but not much room for error.
Over the years, I've had a few spins, but was always able to get the car pointed so I spun down the track. But I spun at VIR a couple of weeks ago and the car didn't react at all to my efforts to correct. Just went sideways down the track until it drifted off. My front wheels pointed in the right direction, but the rears pointed 90 degrees at the wall.
I could see the Aarmco getting closer and closer and closer and I was pretty sure we would kiss the wall. But the car stopped just in the nick of time. Another disaster averted!

how stringent is SCDA on the broomstick test?
and I couldn't find any pricing on the event.

Run top up. As long as you have a pulse (and are close), you will pass the broomstick test with SCDA. Sometimes it is the track that is the problem. So keep the top up and avoid the hassle. Or paint the top half of the helmet black.

If you are thinking of track time perhaps you would also consider coming to Watkins Glen in July with SCDA. They are offering us a discounted price for one or two days.
