Will 17x8 +54 run okay with stock suspension on the track?
Has anyone had experience running 17x8 +54 with 235 tires on the track with stock suspension? Do you know if the fender has to be trimmed and rolled? I am looking for a plug and play solution without any fender mods.
I am pretty aggressive on the track, getting on and off the berm and catching some air time.
Alternatively I'm also considering 17x9 +63 with 255 tires on the front, and also wondering if they will work without any trim or roll since I am still on stock suspension.

17x8+54 will fit without any modification and is a good wheel fitment. No need for fender mods. This setup also fits lowered without any need for further modification.
17x9+63 with 255's fits at stock height without fender mods as well. If you lower the car though you will want to trim the fender liner and bend the tabs out of the way.

Thanks for the quick reply adrs2k, can I assume that under full compression, the fender will always clear the wheel even if the wheel is sticking out of the fender? If the height will clear any wheel, I might run 8.5" +51, which is guaranteed to stick out past the fender, but the offset will guarantee front track will be widened since stock wheel offset is +55.
Also, I did some research, it seems like from 8.5" and up setup, the wheel will rub the front control arm if the wheel is turned to steering lock. Have you encountered that issue?

It has to do with offset(+63 will usually rub), not wheel width. I NEVER use full lock so I do not have an issue. I also run a camber joint and RCA plate, with -3.1 front camber so the bottom of my wheel is actually pushed out quite a bit. I most likely would make contact with the control arm, but I never see the need for full lock so its a non issue.

I have -2.7 both sides right now. Probably won't increase it any further since the current set of tire is wearing evenly with track use.
Yeah, that's a good point, this set will be strictly for going to the track, full lock is probably not necessary.
I think the best strategy is to buy two 17x9 +63 for the rear first, since that is what I will run forthe rear no matter what, and mount them on the front and see how the fitment goes.

Get 17x9 +63 wheels that way you can rotate front to rear. I didn't touch my fenders besides bending my top two fender liner tabs up. I put 10 track days on my car like that with zero issues on my stock suspension. I ran a 3mm spacer to make my wheels a +60 offset. I was also running -1.7 camber up front.

One of my CR's came with Enkei PF01 17x9" wheels on it, with +60 offset. I never experienced any rub front or rear with a square set up using 255/40-17's Dunlops. This was at stock height and alignment settings.
