Default Video of engine noise...cam chain tensioner?

Seems to be much louder when cold. It comes and goes, not steady. This video was taken after the car had been drive for quite a while and then sat for about an hour and a half, so it's not as loud as it was when it was stone cold:

If you can't play a .mov file (Apple Quicktime will do it) let me know and I'll see if I can't convert it with something.

Thanks in advance for giving a listen.

Sounds like it, but it comes across as intermittent, not constant like I know TCT noise to be, try recording from about 5ft away.

Does it go away if you rev the engine a bit?

Unknown. Sheldon's exhaust is so antisocial, EVERYTHING goes away when you rev the engine a bit. Including the sounds of jet engines from the nearby airport.

You're correct, however...it does come and go, almost like a harmonic. I ran a stethoscope around the front of the engine, near the tensioner, just after that video. Didn't really tell me much...the sound permeates the engine no matter where I touched. I'm no expert at interpreting what I hear with a stethoscope, tho. I wish there was a solid S2000 engine guy within striking distance of Cleveland. I'm not overly averse to tearing into the engine myself, but I'd want to know what's wrong before doing so.

Thanks, Billman. Here it is as an MP3...the conversion stripped the video, but the mic was held near and around the tensioner. I moved toward the front left side of the engine as toward the end of the recording.

Sounds like the TCT to me to be honest, especially if it goes away after you rev it, that's a card in wheels sound.

This guy's video has a very distinctive card-in-spokes sound:

Mine isn't like that. It's a lot more knockier sounding.
