Default **HELP** roof won't come down

Hey guys! New to this forum so sorry if this is in the wrong spot. I'm having an issue with putting my soft top down on my 2005 s2k. Last night, I was driving top down and after I came home, I put my roof back up. As I was closing the latch on the drivers side, a few pieces fell out. I didn't hear any cracks or anything. I was able to successfully lock it, but now I'm not able to put my roof down. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but it's summer time and I want to enjoy this beautiful weather in the Pacific NW. I found posts of when the latch breaks while the roof is down, but I haven't found anything quite like what I'm dealing with. I have pictures, but not quite sure how to add them. Please please please help!!!

A few pieces? Once the latch is unhooked the top should come down if the parking brake is set.

Or you saying you can't UNlatch the roof? Much different problem than "the roof won't come down."

Yes, you need to be a little more specific. Did you set your parking brake?

To post pictures you can use a site like Flikr. In your photo, on Flikr, click the little forward arrow on the bottom right corner. Then click "BBCode" and copy the string. Now paste it in the reply section and voila we should all be able to see it!

Yeah sorry I wasn't specific enough. I'm unable to unlatch the drivers side. The part that you usually press in is one of the pieces that fell out. And yes, the parking brake is up.

What if I just have the photo in my email? Or just saved?

Ah,I can picture it now. Try inserting a small slotted screwdriver to "push" in the spring.

Can't post from e-mail. If you are a paying member, you can save your pictures to the the gallery, otherwise use some photo website like Flikr, Photobucket, or even tinypic.

Yes yes it's the "thumb button" lol so once I use screwdriver to open the latch, do I need to replace it? Or can I fix it somehow? Cuz I've tried to put it back together while the roof is latched, but I haven't had any luck. But as you could imagine, there's not much space I have to work with

I would honestly just prefer to replace the latch so I don't have to run into this again in the future. Anybody know how much one would cost? And also if it's easy to change? Thanks for all your help so far guys

Looks like a little over $100 each.

It's very easy to change, just two screws on the inside. I would dismatle your existing latch though, two small screws hold the button in place, maybe they just fell out.
