Default Headlight shroud change - UKDM to USDM?

Hey guys.

I've just been searching about this but not making much sense from what I'm finding as most of the old thread's picture links are broken.

In a nutshell, I currently have these headlamps.

I'd like to change them, to this style:

Now, would this be as simple as splitting the lense (In an oven or with a heat gun) and painting the chrome surface black, and the corners with some amber tile/craft paint?

Has anyone done this?

Cheers
Dan

The black housings are the standard USDM headlights. Why don't you just buy a set of USDM headlights as an entire assembly, and then sell yours off?

Are your headlights some kind of EDM or JDM specials or are they just eBay lights?

Yeah exactly this unfortunately. Any other EDM lights will be fine but not UKDM

Well, it's not the aim'ing that's the problem it's the beam pattern it self. If he has to open his headlights anyway, might as well trade, and then open up the USDM ones. You can swap the pieces that are behind the projector lenses. That will allow you to swap the beam pattern to the way it should be in your country.

Didn’t you post this on FB?

Is the cutoff LHD or RHD?
As long as the cutoff remains the same it shouldn’t be a problem.

You can also definitely paint the shroud piece. It’s real easy and if you aren’t comfortable doing it find a professional retrofitter who can do it for you. You can probably find one in the headlight junkies group on fb. Or ship them to someone in the states that can do the mod for you. Lightwerkz can do it for you. I was going to have them install clear lenses into my projectors. I did it myself though and did an okay job. lol
