Default Replace shocks

Hi all
My S2000 (2003) has 87000 miles. Lately the suspension feels "chunky". Especially in the rear. Is there a good way to test if it needs replacing? I was considering new yellow Konis as a replacement. Your opinion- am I already overdue based on mileage?

Thanks for your opinion

Ken

Mileage isn't always a factor. 3 of 4 of mine were shot at 33K or so.
If you jack it up and look you may see fluid around the tops of the shocks. ( I could)
I did the Bilstein PSS9 adjustable shocks. Probably wouldn't go that way again.

Wow, really, guys? My MY02 still feels perfect at 164K original miles. Even with some rust under the car.

Usually if the shock is bouncing around or your car starts to feel like your on a speedboat or you can see fluid leaking is when I replace them

I would look at your swaybar endlinks (both front and rear, no matter where you hear or feel or think it's coming from) before thinking the shocks. Easy to see if they're broken or not and I've gone through a couple sets and would give some 'interesting' handling dynamics and produce noise.

I have 192k on my '00 shocks and they're still fine.

Easy test for mine was bounce ( carefully mind you) on fender a few times.
It would start clanking about the third rebound.
We even were checking the torque setting of the bolts in the front end before we figured it out.
