Default Rattling soft top latches? I have a ton of extra Honda OEM EPT sealant

Hey everyone -- I recently ordered some Honda EPT sealant (special expanding foam stuff) in order to perform TSB 03-023 "Convertible Top Creaks, Pops, or Rattles While Driving Over Rough Roads" (https://www.s2ki.com/stor/library/TSB/a03-023/index.htm). In addition to greasing the rubber seals with Shin-Etsu grease, the TSB also tells you how to stop the latches themselves from rattling using some special Honda foam called "EPT sealant." The problem is, Honda only sells it in giant rolls that have enough material to perform this TSB on over 100 vehicles! Talk about overkill.

The point is, I'm going to have a ton of this EPT stuff left over once I'm through putting it in my own car, so if anyone else has rattling latches and wants to use some of this sealant to perform the TSB on their car, let me know. It's pretty easy to open up the latches and put the sound-deadening stuff in them (see this thread: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/372...rattle-fixdiy/ ).

James - Thanks for sharing. I had the same issue with my latches long ago and resolved it in a similar manner. I used black window insulation tubing, cut to size and stuffed in place. Results were fantastic and stopped the rattle. Also replaced the latches themselves as they were worn and caused the tension of the seal not to be as tight as it should have been.

I ended up putting some of this stuff in my latches last weekend, and it worked great. If anyone else needs some of this to stop a latch rattle, send me a PM or something, I've got a boatload of it left on the roll.
