Default Cobb Tuning First Thursday: July 2, 7 PM

Cobb Tuning hosts a car show on the first Thursday of every month at each of their 4 sites across the United States. The Cobb Tuning First Thursday event is open to everyone - and some of the most unusual cars you'll see show up. It's casual, cars come and go, hot dogs and soda are free, and it's a great time. And there is usually an S2000 or two... and there needs to be more!

Post here if you might join us! 2311 W Rundberg Ln. Suite 500, Austin, TX 78758.

While we all know that Cobb Tuning is famous for the cars they tune - Evo, STi, ST, GT-R, 335i - the show brings many more makes of cars out to play in addition to these. Here's a couple of pictuores from a show last May.

First, this clean MKIV Supra - note the very large turbo and intake manifold. This raises the question: how much turbo is too much turbo? The answer is probably that it has to fit somewhere in or above the engine compartment... and that you then have to max it out in boost. This car is the poster child for that approach to tuning.

Next we go back to the roots of all sportscars: the classic British sportscar of the 50s and 60s. None of which had enough horsepower, with engines that often trace their roots back to farm tractors. So here's the solution to that problem:

Cobb Tuning is well known for their tuning work with the Ford Fiesta ST and Focus ST. Here's a recent creation: a Fiesta ST for the Pat Tillman Foundation. This was first shown at SEMA in 2013.

This Silvia has a Chevy small block engine swap:

And how about a twin-turbo'd Ferrari F360?

And last, our favorite AWD turbo Celica, which we've enjoyed seeing in several shows in the Austin area. When you see this car, you see what Toyota was once capable of, and you wonder why they didn't continue.

good to see some of you. This is John C.'s car, now rocking a set of period correct OZ forged five spoke wheels in white. A very good friend of mine.

hope next month we have even more s2ks! Robert's ASM kitted car with black Ce28Ns was a sight to behold.

Good to see it, those were a heckuva great car in it's day. I wish they still made one of these. It'd need to be a bit smaller, GTi-sized, to be competitive in the current market. But the engine would be easy for Toyota.

The first time I saw that car, it had gadawful purple wheels. Glad he fixed that.

And, yes, we had a phenomenal S2K turnout at the event. Kudos to everybody who made it and lets do it again.
