Are two cars too much for one person?

I actually have 3 cars. A 98 CR-V My 01 S2000 and my 09 Fit sport. 4 if you include my wife's 02 Civic coupe. There may be a 5th a 97 Ford econoline. But I like having multiple cars. Each car serves a purpose. I use the CR-V for snow and throwing our bikes in the back of. the Fit is my daily and the S2K is my toy so to say. The econoline is being given to me and I'm going to use that for utility purposes until I finish remodeling my house.

Well im late to the party, but to answer the question, no not at all if your an enthusiast. Too many compromises have to be made to have a 'do it all' in one vehicle, certainly if you enjoy taking your vehicle to the track once or twice a year like I do. I have the S for my fun car, my motorcycle for that kind of fun and then I have my trusty Tacoma 4x4. 3 is all I need.

I just recently joined the 2 car club. I have a 2006 Acura TL which is my DD and has been for about 5 years. I had always been a one car owner. Last year, I was able to purchase my 00 S2000. I have to admit, I enjoy having the choice every day. I drive the TL in rain/snow and have the S2K for fun. Best of both worlds.

I love my 3 car collection:
-'00 s2000
-'09 Acura RDX
-'65 Chevy C10 Truck
The Chevy has been in the family since the late 60's. It does see a trip to the store or to work every so often (had it out this morning). Being a family heirloom, I didn't pay anything for it, but have a fair amount invested in the power steering and power disk brake conversions (classic insurance makes it cheap to own).
My RDX and s2000 compliment each other nicely. The RDX is comfy, but still a little fun (turbo and SH-AWD). Of course, it doenst provide the driving satisfaction of the s2000, but it's still VERY nimble for what it is.
Another great thing is that they were both cash cars. I hate car payments! For much less than the average person spends on just one boring car, I purchased one of the greatest roadsters and quickest SUV's made.

Having multiple cars is not a good thing for most average people. All the costs add up really fast and unless you are in the car industry or have a specific hobby that requires it. Add up the fact if you live in places like NYC or San Francisco where they charge you $200+ for a parking spot, you can forget it unless you are truly rich.
We have some clients here who pay $300k+ for a car condo just to store their cars so if you can afford it, why not
Many of our high end clients here have multiple exotics, but many including our owners have an NSX or s2000 in the stable as well since these cars command a lot of respect even among the exotic owners. Oh and many have a Tesla or Prius as their DD since there are days you simply don't want to deal with the hassles of a sports car....

No living places where you have to pay for each parking spot you use is one of the rules I have about buying a home. I would never live in either of the cities you mentioned for any reason whatsoever .. that being part of the reason I dont buy houses where I have an association to pay either ... why pay for someone to tell me what I can do to MY home ?
So for me multiple cars comes down to just the cost of insurance, registration and upkeep, which really is not bad on the cars I own.

We've always had multiple cars in our family, but with my recently acquired S2000, this is the first time I've owned 2 "fun" cars that only I drive. I absolutely love being able to switch between cars to get a different experience. But even more importantly, when one car is down for the count, I don't stress out as much because I still have something else I can drive and enjoy. This will really save me when I have car issues right before a track day (which seems to have happened a lot).
