Default Replacing conrod bearing shells without removing oil pump, possible?

Hey guys.

I'm wondering if it's possible to replace the main end bearings for cylinder 1 and 2 without removing the oil pump, and if anyone has any tips to achieving this.

I've been able to get to 3 and 4 without problem but 1 and 2 are kinda hard to get to and I don't want to damage anything.

Thanks

Thanks man.

I got the shells off tonight and some of them were pretty bad, but none bad enough to explain the amount of metal in my sump So I'm guessing it must be my mains.

The sound wasn't that bad I thought I'd caught it early.

Have you checked the camshafts as well?

Did you momentarily starve the engine of oil?

That is not from the camshafts, guaranteed.

That first one is gone. You have only the steel backing remaining. Either way, that whole motor needs to come apart and be rebuilt. Where are you located?

I agree, the bearings will get replaced, but there is obviously something else failed.

I really wanted to get this done without pulling the motor. I don't really have the time or space to sort this. I'm from Europe buddy.

Crankshaft is really good, surprising really. I only noticed one tiny belemish which should easily polish out.

I'm tempted to throw some shells on her and see how she runs. This is my first time in the bottom end of an engine so perhaps I'm being naïve. I've read that the collection in the sump could be the shells as they clump together?

My DIY skills are running dry on this one. I really don't want to give it to a shop just yet though.
