Default Ball joint seperator

Hi guys Ive never done this job before so I would like a recommendation on a ball joint separator for the wishbones/ tie rod ends etc?

Honda makes a special tool for it, but a very large hammer works just as well if you don't want to shell out the money for the tool.

+1 for a hefty hammer.

You're best to undo the nut and smack the side of the arm/hub where the ball joint goes through. Whatever you do, don't smack the top of the ball joint with the thread on it unless you don't want to use it again

I would get a press one like that linked one. I used a hammer and a wedge and cracked a suspension arm once

Thank you very much people. I have a couple of more questions now sorry.... 1)Do I completely remove the castle nut or wind it down some and press against that? 2) how do I go about removing the ball joint from the wishbones, do they just press in/out?

If you are using the separator, you can take the castle nut off.
