My all time favorite mod I have ever done to any of my cars is making my turbo s2000 flex fuel compatable with the aem ems series 2. Boost and timing is all automatically adjusted and is dependent on the %of ethanol in the tank. My s2000 makes 442whp on 91 octane and 650whp on e85. It will make anything in between wether I run E40 or e60. No more switching maps or draining tanks of pump gas or e85 to switch fuels.

I have no idel why any anyone would buy the sos kit. I just bought the flex fuel sensor for $90 and you just put it in your fuel return line. I have been running it for years now with no issue.

Here is the sensor

here is the plug

The SOS kit is expensive but is nice cause it was comes with fittings so you don't have to use hose clamps. Also includes pins for whatever EMS your using. I personally wont' being using the SOS kit either.

For the sos your pretty much just paying for the fittings. You can buy there kit for $150 with out the sensor. I dont see the point of the fittings considering the stock fuel return house is just hose clamped to the Fuel pressure regulator and to the hose clamped to a hard line of the other end.

Sure the sensor alone is only $90, but IMO its well worth the hassle free solution. It comes with an already planned out mounting and install solution, the high quality early fittings can quickly add up in cost. I also don't want to have to come out from under the car several times for extra hoses, wires, fittings and connectors... SoS has already done all that leg work for you.

I grudgingly bought the SoS kit too, bitching about the price, and while I was installing it and realized what a PITA it would have been if I had taken the cheaper route. I now believe it was worth every cent! Not to mention how professional and clean looking the kit is once installed.

The ap1 comes with a return fuel system, and the ap2 is a returnless fuel system, so since you are looking for more horsepower considering that you want to run e85 your gonna need to get the return type. SOS sells the return system with the flex fuel kit, which I am leaning on buying.

EDIT: just realized you have a 2002 Ap1, my bad

Only the 2006+ drive by wire s2000s have a return less fuel system.

Here's my experience with buying and installing a flex fuel setup on my SC'd S2000.

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/109...-e85flex-fuel/

I used the cheaper, smaller sensor from Pace Performance (http://paceperformance.com/i-1080149...ensor-e85.html) and the mating wiring pigtail (http://paceperformance.com/i-8396465...r-harness.html) and sourced some hose barb fittings from Autozone on the cheap. It wasn't as pretty as the SOS kit but it was a lot cheaper and you can't see it when installed anyway.

To quote from my linked thread:
"All together I have $80 for the sensor and harness plug, $6 for the two adapter fittings, $12 (?) for some 100 psi fuel line, $180 for the Zeintronix ECA gauge, and I didn't pay for the wire from work. So let's call it $300 total. If I had an AEM v2 ECU (or the new Infinity) instead of the Haltech I wouldn't have *needed* the Zeintronix gauge, thus cutting the price by more than half."

Edit - Gotta say thanks again to riceball and all the others who have contributed info on E85, flex fuel, and the Zeintronix/GM sensor setup in the past.

I wonder if there is a difference between that smaller sensor (coolguys) and the larger sensor (riceball)? They're both made by Continental.

They are the same thing, just different part numbers. The larger one has mounting holes, the smaller one does not. They have the same connector and send the same electrical signal. I would imagine that the sensing internals are identical. Just made for two different GM vehicles.
