AEM EMS2 2.2 base map on a 2.0 AP1
Evening all across the pond!
Just fitted AEM EMS2 to my 2001 AP1. Mods inc:-
-Tegiwa/J's replica manifold
-Invidia 70mm test pipe
-Milltek 70mm single catback
-AEM V2 intake
I put the AP2 2.2 calibration file on as that's all I could see remotely suitable as a base map.
Set the TPS voltage as per the manual, then she fired up after a few cranks and was stinking rich! 10.2 on the UEGO gauge
My nearest tuner is some 40-50 miles away. Am I safe driving this there? or will I be better putting the oem ecu back on for the time being?
Also the UEGO, I understand can be wired in place of the OEM lambda sensors, is this going to be more beneficial than running the 2 OEM sensors?
many thanks in advance!

I was just thinking to myself wile reading this that yes you will be fine, just run a bit richer, but 10.2afr is way too rich! That’s fuel washing your cylinders territory if that’s where its running at idle and partial throttle. I would put the stock ecu back in to drive.

To be honest, I killed it after 20 seconds of idling. I will fire her up tomorrow evening and have a look.
These EMS2's are completely foreign to me! it cold idled at about 1200 and then dropped to 800 and then I killed the ignition.

Did it continue to run this rich after the engine warmed up?

Let it fully warm up. The base map isn't very good, but it should lean out as it warms up. Cold starts are always rich, maybe not that rich, but for a base map to move you around, I wouldn't be so concerned as long as it leans back out. If you have a WBO2 routed into the ECU, turn on O2 Feedback and it'll certainly lean out.
The base map also has the knock sensor thresholds too low, so it'll think it is knocking almost all the time. It is also setup to add fuel and pull timing when it's 'knocking'.

All sorted now guys.
Was pretty good fueling wise when warm.
She made good power. VTEC set at 4000rpm.
As for the exhaust its fabulous. Virtually no drone what so ever. Sounds fantastic ehebt you're on it.

Whilst I'm on the EMS subject. Does anyone have a run down on how to set up 2 step / launch control?. I've looked and only found settings and how to do it on boosted applications.
Many thanks in advance for the help
