Default Upgrade from a Novi 1000?

Hi guys,

I currently have the CT Novi 1000 setup with a 2.8 pulley and it's great but I'm suffering with belt slip so have to keep tensioning and adjusting. It's becoming a pain.

Im thinking I should just get a bigger blower or modify the Novi so I could use a bigger pulley. What options do I have for this set up? I did a bit of searching and it doesn't look like the 1200 bolts onto the CT plate? Do I have to buy the whole unit? I need it to be as similar as possible as all my intercooler piping is for the Novi 1000.

Any help appreciated, cheers

You would need to buy a new plate and blower from CT. Seems the option has become rather expensive as of lately too... You can call Paxton and ask about an upgrade but which will run you roughly 1700 and a new plate from CT is 350 iirc

Try a larger crank pulley then size up the blower pulley. CT offers one.

Approximately $2800 it costs with CT

You will so have to buy a pulley from SOS.

I've just done it

Damn, $2800 is too steep for me, especially with the NZD/USD exchange rate at the moment!

The big crank pulley sounds like a goer though.. How much did that cost from SOS? Will the SOS and CT one be the same?

I went through SOS about two and a half years ago, got the NV1200 for $1600 which was a little bit of a deal with $100 off their list price for blower and then the corresponding mounting adapter plate for $275 which was list. I sold my old NV1000 to a member for $400 so that helped offset the price a bit as well. Not sure where these radical numbers are coming from, unless prices have gone up substantially since then.

I think that's including the heat exchanger and new pulley plus shipping maybe?

Exact price was:

$1850 for polished N1200
$255 for mounting plate

Then I had to purchased:

New vtec block, L bracket, pulley tension mount, isolator hat and sleeve bushes, pulley, belt..... Tax and shipping.

SOS wanted more!

I kept my original heat exchanger, ice box, hoses, line, larger exchanger and pump etc.

the plate price seems ok. I bet there are plenty of second hand 1200's floating around anyway?

I didn't realise it would need a new vtect block and other things though, i thought the blower and plate would be enough :/

I fitted a spare 3" SOS pulley yesterday anyway and I saw boost of 13-14 with @ 9000RPM with my FMIC which I haven't seen in a long time with the 2.8.. I can't believe the extra surface area would make that much difference.. I ran out of tensioning adjustment with my 370 belt and the 2.8" as the belt stretched that much, probably because i had to keep over tightening it!

If you have an old comptech kit and upgrade to the nv1200, none of these things are required for the retrofit, other then the pulley because the shaft diameters are different between the two series blowers, and then a possible belt depending on the size pulley you get. So im not sure why you needed all the other things, unless they were just bad and needed replacing regardless.
