Best place to rebuild bottom end? (Solved)
Hi guys,
I'm having a big issue right now, my first engine spun a bearing on cylinder two , it seized the engine at 14MPH.
I was running 3 quarts low unfortunately because I had the car stored and I guess something either leaked out into the drain in the floor
or something else. Whatever it is, my car is broken. I swapped the engine out and it's out the car.
I took the bearing off cylinder 2 from the bottom after taking the oil pan and cover off. It cranked again by hand.
I want it to get fixed properly , I don't know how much it would cost and where to even go to
Could anyone help me ? I need new bearings and most likely a new crank. I don't know if the cylinder walls are scored.
all I know is that the head came out fine.
Should i dissasemble the head from the block and inspect it or just bring it to a machine shop? If so which machine shop should I go to?
Thanks.
I live in Cambridge so anything around boston/malden/lynn/revere would be great.

First I would disassemble everything to check for scores etc, at this point the crank and rod bearing will def need replacing, check cylinder walls for scoring and if there is scoring, that will need to be fixed...you may just end up needing a whole new bottom end. Let us know anything else you find out

Look up Ballistic Motorsports in New Hampshire. Now part of Granite State Dyno. I follow them and I think this month alone Scott has swapped out 3 engines!
