I think the 2 "cheater tires" should be classed the same as rs3. I really don't feel they are any faster.

The increases in times we have seen are so small, it could be the result of seat time, track temps or just a cleaner run group.

The only thing I think would be good to dip would be to figure a way to bring the other series drivers to participate with the s2kc.

I don't think catering to their rules would be the right way to go being that I think the s2kc rules are the most fair. Just something to keep in mind.

I'm looking to run some tires at BW on Dec 20th back to back. If anyone wants to join I'll be on the RE71's.

I firmly believe the new version of street tires have closed the gap on the NT01's. Some say they are even faster. I can see the points on the Nittos coming down for next year. They have reminded the same points and same compound as well for 3 years while the new street tires have improved. The question is by how much?

Ive driven back to back on rival-s and RS3 and the rival-s is unquestionably faster, just by how much. Using data from my car and ddess' car the lateral sustained G's these tires put up exceed the NT01. Going from RS3 to rival-s I gained 2-3mph per corner, and going back I lost as much.

There is also a cost component. My Rival-S lasted 3.5 days and cost $1k. Rounding up to 4 days that's ~$250/day. Leaving these at 0 points creates an arms race that just inflates everyone's cost to compete. The RE71R shows similar wear characteristics to the RivalS. Given the performance gap this means potentially an increase of 50%-100% in tire budget to be competitive.

Auto-xers from this season have reported similar results with the RE-71R.

I believe all the winners/top finishers were on the RE-71R. If you weren't on the RE-71R, you weren't competitive...

As far as the schedule, no Buttonwillow at the end of January to start the season?

Maybe having a spec tire for each class that gets a -.50 point bonus or something might help, It wouldn't force anyone to run the tire, but it might even out an advantage in the street or modified classes.

We have reached out to a number of tire manufacturers and if we can get a suitable deal i dont think anything is off the table but I think it needs to improve the whole series..

Buttonwillow at the end of January has been a rain dance the last few years, although heavily attended.

Thoughts on starting ACS vs BW?
