Sand blasters
Hello people I have had my rear end sand blasted and powder coated.I told the guy not to blast inside the uprights as the bearing goes inside and it's a press fit part but it seems he has anyway.
Do you think they will be ok to use or are they now scrap? Has anyone had this themselves?
Cheers Andy

Seriously has he also powder coated the inside or just blasted them? Are you talking bushing or bearing, a picture would help. If it's for a bushing it's supposed to be a tight interference fit so a blasted surface could be a help in stopping the bushing rotating.

No I'm just talking about the upright where the wheel bearing presses in to, it's no longer shiny smooth, it looks like someone has gone round it with sand paper.
What I'm finding with my project is I pay good money for things to be done and they never come back spot on, there's always something wrong....I will try and get a pic up if I can.

I tend to agree with this, are you putting a new bearing in? a blasted surface may give it more grip that would probably give a tighter fit. I guess there's only one way to find out, if it takes a good amount of pressure to get it in it will be ok, you will just have to put some miles on the car and see if the bearing lasts.
