Default Timing Chain Tensioner - rattling

Hi - hoping someone might be able to offer me a bit of guidance...

Main dealer, after a service, has informed me that my engine is making a bit of noise, and it needs the TCT changed.

I have come across diy guides on fixing it by sandblasting or dremel'ing the worm bolt... - but then a guy on the US forum has stated that that's not the fix, and that dremel'ing the worm is only a temp fix... and, replacing the TCT is only a temp fix too (although how temp he doesn't say)...

I'm left a bit confused, - as to what to do then?

Also - can someone confirm that this is the correct part?

https://www.tegiwaimports.com/genuin...2000-f20c.html

Lastly, - am I ok to drive the car - or is it at risk of causing a bigger problem...?

Thanks for any help here.

I had mine changed for one with the enlarged oil pathway - no problems since. I think ESEM was doing this on an exchange basis although i could be wrong.

This recent thread on the same topic also provides some good info: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/1142357-uprated-tct

You're fine to drive the car.

Sandblasting the TCT will fix the problem for approximately 6-12 months ... then it needs to be re-done.

Do a search on Ballade / Billman TCT, this seems to be a good permanent fix.

Amazing - thankyou so much everyone for the great information and such a quick response... really is very much appreciated. Peace of mind that the car is okay to drive also, as I couldn't do without it this weekend.

I use Billman's. Some guys here use Ballade. A five minute job to replace; you will need a 10mm (or 12mm? I cant recall) socket on a ratchet and long nose pliers. Lovely

Can echo what everyone says about Ballade TCT, picked mine up last year while replacing a few other parts.
My car no longer sounds like a tractor.
