Hi there. Are there any differences between pre-facelift Japanese imported S2000's and regular UKDM S2000's?

I ask as i have purchased a rear end damaged red 1999. All of the VIN plates were removed and copart have the vin as AP11002145 which is what is stamped on the bulkhead. With the registration number I have found VIN number GHMAP1F20C1002170. The sunvisors have japanese warning stickers on them so am I right to assume this is a Japanese imported car?

Lings site give the VIN no range of UK cars as JHMAP1120YTY000001-YT999999

Did you mean to type the VIN number beginning with a J, and not a G?

That is what i was told by copart, i had a bit of a fight to get the vin number from them. Because it was a catagory B car they remove the VIN numbers and that is what they told me the VIN number was, I asked if it was G for Golf or J for Juliet but they were adamant it was a G.

From what I can tell it definitely seems to be an Import. It's got no washer jets, no factory fitted alarm, Japanese writing on sunvisors

My JDM has the stamp on the chassis which is the same number on the plate. The UKDM ones i've had are the same but in the format lovegroova mentions above so you have a JDM chassis anyway.

Can you tell me where on the chassis it is stamped? all the VIN plates have been removed and I can't find anything else

All that is stamped on the bulkhead in that location is "AP11002145". The plate on the slam panel has been removed
