Default Goodbyes! Moving to Seattle next week

A month and half ago I had no clue my ownership of the S2000 in AZ will be so short. But life happens, one decides to take bigger risks and that is exactly what I'm doing. I'll be moving to Seattle next week. Being paranoid of someone else driving my car in my absence has stopped me shipping my car. I'll be driving it for 1500+ miles! I want to make the most of the car coz I'm un-sure if I'll be able to drive it that way in Seattle.

Some of you guys have been really nice to me and helped me immensely. I'm truly grateful for that. Sean(SSE2k)has been a great support for helping me transition to Seattle. Having said that, can you guys please recommend me the best routes to take or sources where I could find one?

Cheers!

Congrats on the big move! Ever since Sean moved up here from Arizona, he has always been a big help to the S2000 community up here, hope to have you along with us! Manga_Spawn has also made the drive up from Arizona but I'm not sure which route he took, he'll probably swing by this thread and can share some insight though. Although I haven't made this drive myself, I would probably recommend highway 101 all the way up starting from San Diego. You'll hit most of the biggest cities in California and you'll have the beautiful coast on your left the entire way up!

Joo mudda... I mean congrats!? Too short here, you'll definitely have to come back and visit occasionally. Have a safe trip if I don't see you before you leave!

Finally get to say it here.. congrats on the move!

I'll share my google map with you of the routes we drove to Homecoming 3 and back. It's a long ass drive no matter how you look at it. You've basically got two directions you could take from Phoenix. Go straight north and through Utah and up through Idaho, seeing all that the Colorado plateau has to offer, or head west to the coast and take the California/Oregon route.

If you take the inland route, keep note of the mountain passes and snow closures. If you take the coastal route, beware it is very long if you want to drive the entire length. It switches from the 101, to 1 in different cities. I would recommend looking at specific spots along the coast that you would want to visit, then planning to jump between the interstate and the coast along the way. I skipped most of southern/central CA since I used to live in the area.

My personal must-do spots for the HC3 trip were to drive the coast from Morro Bay to Monterey (and 17 mile drive), Mendocino to Fort Bragg, Klamath to Crescent City (redwoods), and the Oregon coast from Bandon Dunes to Newport (saw big-ass Elk). Side trips on Oregon 38, US 199, and CA 299 were incredible. There was also a drive down Lombard Street in San Francisco with super squeaky Carbotech XP10s that I will never live down.

A radar/laser detector would be a wise investment as well. I had certain marked vehicles follow me at length as I was the only car on the road.

Something about the drive I will never forget is how the sights and smells of the Pacific changed from LA to Seattle.
Now I want to drive it all over again!

Are you visiting at all before you move? Could be a good escape from the summer heat!

Hey Sean thanks for your inputs again! Please share your route with me. I did some planning yesterday and have made some Air BNB bookings already. Here it goes:

Thursday(2/18):Submit my laptop to the boss, come home, take my bag and start driving to Riverside, CA(via I10, I hate that road!). I have an AirBNB in Riverside till Friday(2/19). The idea it to get in SoCal in the night so have sometime around LA in the morning.

Friday(2/19): Drive around the LA area and through the canyons around Malibu. Take the drive up north along SR 1 ending in Santa Cruz. My aunt lives there I'm going to check if I can crash at their house.

Saturday(2/20): Start from Santa Cruz continuing on the SR 1 to Bandon, OR. I have an AirBNB reserved from Sat to Sun morning. This will be the penultimate stop.

Sunday(2/21): Drive from Bandon, OR to Isasquah, WA to my cousin's house. Prepare to show up at the new job the next day.

I plan to take the SR 1 throughout but I'd love alternate suggestions of routes. Remember my stops are going to be Riverside, CA -> Santa Cruz, CA -> Bandon, OR -> Issaquah, WA

PS: Sean, I need more on the radar detector please. Getting a ticket is one my big worries I already have two!

Your planned route is great. Hope you like driving as it's quite a drive although that coastal scenery is amazing. I did the drive from Seattle to LA using that route in 2014.

I have an Escort 9500i I would loan you for the trip. I don't have the cigarette power cable anymore as I have mine hardwired but you could probably get one if you needed. Just PM me if you want to borrow it and I'll see if we can ship it to you.
