Moved to Taiwan

I was very disappointed to learn that the S2000 is one of those car that will no longer pass inspection (or inspectable). I can still ship it there, but just can't drive it since no license will be issued. I think this happened a few years ago., after the regulation got tighter.

There are a few reasons. 1 Reason is the Pre 06+ s2000 do not come with TPMS, and 2nd reason is the new Euro 5 emissions standard. Taiwan follows the same emissions standard as Europe so the emissions standard is getting more strict. It is possible to get clean S2000s in Taiwan you just have to search hard. A clean CR goes for about 1.8 million NTD which is roughly 60k. To be honest Taiwan is not a really good place for car enthusiasts. Also you have to think about insurance, insurance companies here won't fully insure your car. You can always get liability insurance, but if you want to get full coverage they calculate the value of your vehicle by production year and they depreciate a set amount per year. So basically if you total your car here and its deemed your fault you will get receive a single dime.

Well, this is it. I said good buy to my good friend of 22 years this morning, couldn't bring it to Taiwan. Took me to work on the same highway almost daily, played hard at the track, never gave me any trouble. Even when I decide to sell it, it made it easy for me (literally sold in less than 24 hours, it basically sold itself). Farewell my friend.

Thanks for posting an update. Sorry that you had to say goodbye your friend of 22 years. It must be hard. It looks to be in pristine condition. Hope it went to a good home.
As much as I wanted to have a "rare" car in Taiwan (btw, saw a yellow CR (?) parked in a neighbor's garage just 2 blocks from my parents' house), I think I'd be happy if I could drive a Tesla over there.
