Bonnet catch gunked up, how best to clean?
Went to remove my rocker cover the other day to send to Spooner and the bloody bonnet wouldn't pop. A quick search around and the solution seemed to be to jack the car up, remove the try and start a pokin to get it released.
Always one for finding easier ways of doing things, I used some pvc coated wire (like a usb lead) pushed between the bonnet and the seal, up the sides of the bonnet and lifted and the bonnet released just fine, much easier!
Anyway, I need to get the latch off and sort it out but I've no idea what to clean it up with before regreasing. Thoughts?

I had quite a bit of trouble with my bonnet latch.
The bigger spring had rusted at the bottom and had effectively lengthened, meaning that it wasn't pulling with as much force as it should have been. I found this after degunking the latch assembly. It's not possible to purchase a replacement spring from Honda, so I bought a new latch assembly.
That still didn't totally sort things out as my release cable wasn't sliding well. It was very stiff, even after trying to lube it with a cable oiler. After replacing the cable too, all is good.

Mine needs doing badly even so the bonnet doesn't release properly so not sure if it's the catch or the cable , but found this once cleaned up to regrease
