Default OEM Rear Shock Absorbers

Today I discovered that I have a leaking rear left (passenger side) shock. As I'm not keen to splash too much cash on the car right now, I'm going to start looking for a replacement second hand OEM unit.

Can anyone tell me what I need to be looking out for to make sure that what I buy is right for my 2001 car? From my searches, it seems that these units may be different for later models, but I've not been able to find a clear cut answer as to when there were changes.

I just had this. The shocks were valved slightly different as the MY progressed. Your best best is a WTB thread and someone on here will no doubt help.

If you buy second hand OEM dampers you could always swap the springs for your originals so you know they are the same

Thanks Gaffa. I've found myself a complete set of low mileage second hand dampers. I'll be picking them up tomorrow and putting my springs on them, just as you've suggested.
