Default Seized bushes. Dealer at fault?

Hi all, after a 2 year break I've got myself back in an S

Unfortunately the car I have bought has seized bushes all round.

I checked the paperwork when I bought the car and I have a print out of a 4 wheel alignment work carried out by a well respected Hertfordshire Honda dealership in 2013.

Needless to say I am a bit gutted that it seems (by their own admission) this work wasn't carried out and they want to relieve me of £2.5k to fix it.

Would I have a case if I took this up with Honda UK? It obviously wasn't me that paid £140 for the alignment in 2013, so I'm not sure where I would stand.

I would take the car back to the garage I bought it from, but I've just got a new soft top fitted....

Cheers, James

In all honesty I do not think you have a leg to stand on.

Where did you get the quote of £2500???

I recently had mine done on TGM. They done a good job on mine and it would be roughly half the cost of your quote.

You could do an alignment with seized bushes and get within tolerances - just sayin'

Honda UK couldn't give a F**K

The bushes can be seized yet the car can still be aligned correctly. It only becomes an issue if the suspension goes out of alignment or if want to change the alignment settings.

There are other places that can fix this for a *lot* less than £2.5K, Wheels In Motion come to mind, but you can DIY it for a few hundred £ but it isn't an easy job.

I can understand the quote - the Honda way of replacing the bushes is to put new wishbones in @ £450 a pop

Yep your right, quote was for new lower wishbones all round + fitting

I'll get a scan up of the alignment figures later, but I'm pretty sure it shows them way out before Honda touched them, and way out afterwards!

My local specialist (used to be WIM but no longer affiliated) reckon nobody has ever touched the alignment bolts - there was no spanner marks at all.

Regarding TGM, was that price to replace bushes with poly ones?

I'm going to give my bolts a shock treatment and try a 1200nm impact driver but if that fails, I'll look at rebushing

The adjusters are not on any Honda service schedule so unless they were specifically asked they will only "try" to adjust them
The seizing issue has been taken up with Honda UK many times with no real success

I'd say soak them in plusgas, drive it around like that for a month or so then try the impact driver.
Becareful you dont knacker the retaining tabs and budget for rebushing all round
Anything less will be a bonus!

one of my caster bushes seized within a year... yours was last done 3 years ago, even if they were free on last adjustment unless the botls were removed cleaned and re-greased with marine grease they could of all easily seized within that time.

I did my bushing at TGM with Polyflex bushes, Tom can supply this with pretty good deal. It's a big job which could take 3-4 days to do. Wheel in Motion is good for alignment.
