Would I be too optimistic if I hoped for a Honda victory? While I'm at it I'd like Rossi to finish on the podium.

Hunter-Reay was fastest in practice today at 228.202 mph.

Rookie Spencer Pigot was the first to crash in practice. He's OK. He's from Pasadena, CA, where I worked for many years (since 1981) and had a business office until 3 1/2 years ago. He's the 2015 Indy Lights champion and 2014 Pro Mazda champion.

Thursday, 5/19: Gabby Chaves was fastest in today’s fourth day of practice for the epic May 29 race, with a lap of 227.961 mph in the No. 19 Dale Coyne Racing Boy Scouts of America Honda. Chaves was followed on the overall speed chart today by Townsend Bell in the No. 29 Andretti Autosport Honda (227.593), Carlos Munoz in the No. 26 Andretti Autosport Honda (227.589), Conor Daly in the No. 18 ShirtsForAmerica.com Honda (227.524) and Charlie Kimball in the No. 42 Tresiba Chevrolet (227.477). Speeds are expected to increase in practice Friday when the turbocharger boost level for the Chevrolet and Honda 2.2-liter, twin-turbocharged V-6 engines is raised 10 kPa to 140. That should equate to about an additional 40 horsepower.

^ I wonder if they sandbag any in practice? Hard to believe Chevy hasn't led a session. Prior to practice I was reading an article where some of the drivers were saying that it was going to be hard beating Pagenaud at Indianapolis.

Yeah, he's been pretty dominant: three in a row and two 2nd places in five races so far and three poles.

Will Power's fast lap of 232.672 mph was the best Friday and the best all week. Another Chevy driver, Josef Newgarden of Ed Carpenter Racing, finished second at 232.344.

Qualifying sessions will be televised by ABC on Saturday (4-6 p.m.EDT) and Sunday (1-3 p.m.EDT). Saturday's fastest qualifier will start on the pole May 29 at the Speedway.

Arie Luyendyk currently holds the records for the fastest single lap in qualifying at Indy (237.498mph) as well as the fastest four-lap average (236.986mph). That was with 1,000 hp+. They're running at 550 hp now at Indy (vs. 750-800 hp at Long Beach). I'd like to see what they could do with significantly more hp/boost.
