Take the car out and give it the tanning of its life. Chances are, it was too cold and wasn't doing it's job properly.

Not the first time someone has had issues with a Berk HFC during emissions test.

I agree, if it doesn't pass when hot then there's an issue with a CAT.

They initially would not test the car again as they were close to closing, but i managed to persuade them to re-test emissions.

Took the car out revving the engine like crazy trying to get it to be as hot as possible, i then held 3k rpm while stationary for a good 2 minutes before the test, and it failed once again :/ the reading was all over the place, up and then down, the guy then put the probe into the exhaust and held the throttle and we noticed the CO figure started to drop, when it got to a level low enough he re-tested and it passed!

I then got into the car started it and the EPS light was on, the tech said it can happen when the car has been stationary under load for a long period, after a quick drive the light has gone out and not come back on. Is he right in what he says about it being due to heat/car not moving?

The berk cat is only 1 year old as i bought it just before last years mot due to the OEM rattling, seems a bit crap if it is already starting to fail??

I have never failed to get the car through an MOT with a Berk HFC .... even one where the substrate was loose and rattling around.

Yes that happens with the EPS when there is no steering input. As you did, just go for a drive and it rectifies itself.
