FINALLY got it after 14+ years. lol
My Mom got her 2001 GPW with red/black interior 14+ years ago and I have been waiting to inherit it ever since. lol. Finally, at 70 years old with 2 bad knees, she can no longer drive a standard transmission. I paid a very cash friendly "mom/son discount" and had it shipped from RI to Las Vegas for $1039. The good news is she has binders of service records for everything she has ever done to the car.....still has original window sticker, pamphlets, brochures, records of every single service ever done to the car, convertible boot, original car cover, new soft top less then a year old, new clutch with only 8k miles, etc... and the MAIN thing is she has no idea of whT "vtech" is and I am extremely confident that it has been over 6k less then 20-25 times in it's entire life..... until now :-) Bad news is she had issues with clutch and her bad knees and bumped the shit out of the front and rear bumpers the past 2 years on poles and the such... rest of the car is MINT but the bumpers and trunk lid are being replaced and painted this week for $1963 and then the car will be pretty much mint besides some minor interior crap. The rims were let go due to her health as well and are very oxidized beyond hope I think. I am looking to upgrade to 17" 0r 18" as well and leaning towards 17" Enkei EDR9..... just have to decide on silver or black... most people I ask think black to compliment the black top... input or thoughts on that are very welcomed. This will now be my daily driver since it was made for places like Las Vegas. I know I will be seeking out a lot of advice soon :-)

Congrats, kj!
I hope your mom is doing well. My mom had a horrible time with knee problems.
As far as the wheel colors go, I'd get both. Black to look bad-ass, and silver for a conservative, stylish look. If only one set of wheels, I'd go silver, for sure. My age will show here, but it's tough to go wrong with the beautiful OEM alloy/silver. Should help with resale, too.
