New PCV valve---hose important?
Hey,
I have a an ap1. I swapped out the PCV valve but the old hose was super stiff so I damaged it taking it off. Any reason not to use a standard crankcase vent hose from the auto parts store?

Duration of said hose?

You can use an aftermarket hose with the appropriate internal diameter, you will just need to use aftermarket hose clamps as the Honda ones won't fit aftermarket hoses which tend to be thicker than the oem hose.

Cool--I actually just bought some crank vent hose at O'Reilly's and some screw down clamps. I also ordered a factory one just for why not. They are all cheap. I just wanted to drive my car around this evening because next week is going to be a bunch of endless work!

Replaced my PCV several times, and I've used auto parts store tubing for that part. But you really need to be careful. Airhose is not good enough. It inevitably gets squishy after awhile from the heat and the suction will compress it and squeeze it tight. I've had issues with cheap "coolant" hose as well. Quality coolant hose should last, but personally, I just pony up a few $ for OEM hose.
