Default Alarm problems...

Hi guys, I'm having alarm problems, when locking the car with the fob it doesn't flash the indicators but does lock the car, I tested the alarm by leaving the window down and opening the centre console which usually sets the alarm off but doesn't, I'm unsure what to do, this started happening when I left the battery off the car for over 24 hours, it's a MY04.

Thanks.

I had this when I bought my car. It's probably one of the sensors that's broken. Does your interior light turn on when you open each door? Does your boot light turn on when you open it? If yes to both it's probably your bonnet sensor. That's what was wrong with mine.

Yeah all lights turn on when the boot/door is open, could you tell me where the bonnet sensor is?

I'd guess the cause of this was disconnecting the battery for a long period of time, and is unlikely to do with sensors.

I'd leave it locked for 24 hours which will get the alarm's internal battery properly charged up, and see if it sorts itself.

^^Try that first, but the sensor is in the bonnet catch. I replaced the whole catch because I had a spare one, I can't remember if it's a plugin sensor that you can replace.

I only use the car on weekends so it stays locked for most of the week, it's quite frustating because if anyone was to break into the car the alarm won't sound.

I had a very similar problem where the car would deadlock but there was no visual indications (indicators flashing when locking and no red light on dashboard) of it locking. Took it to an AutoElectrition and he found the alarm was short circuiting.
