Default Who's used DocTronics ProECU-S2K

Wondering if anybody has used the DocTronics ProECU-S2k for their pre-drive by wire S2k?

Seems like a good option vs the Kpro as you don't have to do any conversion of sensors and valve cover.

Anybody?

Most people use the AEM EMS as it's a well trodden path and loads of support is available. The Doctronic is cheaper though. I wonder if the software is any good?

I like the ability to datalog to a USB stick.

To me it looks like a hacked k series ecu thus plug and play, I like some of the expansion options and Android display etc. Compared to the aem it doesn't look vastly better than a tried and tested aem series 2 ecu and it's roughly the same price slightly cheaper so in that respect it's the aem for me, it's arrived a bit late but commend them on offering an alternative. Remains to be seen if programming software is as good and intuitive and support. It reminds me of chrome from yester year Honda.

Yes, that's essentially correct.

My guess is that the Hondata brand of ECU is not that popular in Europe?

In the US, Hondata and AEM are probably equally popular. For the 06+ DBW models, the Hondata FlashPro is much more popular given that it retains the stock ECU and flashes it. Far less expensive than the AEM EMS.

In the US, for the 00-05 models, the AEM is definately more popular, but a lot of people use the Hondata Kpro model.

https://www.hondata....kpro/kpro-s2000

It has the advantage of using an OEM ECU, albeit from the K-series. Advantage meaning it is very robust and proven. And from what I've heard, the software is easier to use to tune the car.

Hondata modifies the ECU to make it programable like the AEM, , but it also retains the OBD2 functions. While the KPro is far less expensive than the AEM EMS2, you do need to replace some sensors as the S2k uses a Hall effect sensor, but the K-series doesn't. This brings the cost to about the same as the AEM, hence AEM's popularity.
  • Crank sensor 37500-PZX-003
  • Crank wheel 13622-PCX-013
  • TDC sensor 37510-PZX-003
  • TDC wheel 14112-PCX-003
  • Valve cover 12310-PCX-020
  • Drain plug washer (for PCV valve) 94109-14000
  • PCV valve 17130-PCX-003
  • IAT sensor 37880-P05-A00 (not required, but stock IAT will read about 30 degrees hotter)
The approximate cost of these parts is $300-375.

But, this new guy, DocTronics has done the same thing as Hondata with the Kpro, but has a Hall to mass convertor built in so you don't have to change the parts.

Thus, you have the robustness of the OEM ECU with the ability to continue using the OBD2 as well.

I think DocTronics has had it on the market for about a year now. My mechanic is now testing it in several cars with good results, but only NA so far. Since it's made in Austria, I was curious how many of you have tried it.

For that matter, how many use the other Hondata products?

I went with kpro instead, this was about six mounts ago though and at that time there were to many unknowns with the Doctronic stuff and no users at all that I could find.
It does look like it could be a good alternative even though it feels a bit like a knock off.
But so far I have no regrets going with Kpro instead, Hondatas support is great and given their long history it feels very safe in the future as well.
Hondata is very popular in Europe but more so on the k-series stuff.

I would love to see more input on this ecu. Ballade Sports just started selling it. Anyone else have good results using this ecu?
