A few updates:
  1. First things first, the stereo. Ray was kind enough to let me remove the stereo equipment from the old car, so I took the head unit, amp and subwoofer, leaving the door speakers and Alpine KCE-865b dash control unit in place. I had had a Modifry DCI Wired DCI for Alpine, Kenwood, JVC, Clarion lying around for a while, so took the opportunity to get that installed by the ever helpful guys at Impulse Watford Impulse Car Electronics – News I chose some Hertz Mille Pro MPK-165.3 components to go in the doors, and these are rather good. I've disconnected the headrest speakers as they are a complete waste of time with my current system. Especially with the Imprint running which provides a marvellous sound stage.
  2. The car then paid a visit to Doctor MX-5 for undersealing, which seems like a good idea given that rust really is the enemy of these cars: DoctorMX5 - Keeping Your 5 Alive - Honda S2000
  3. And finally, the car paid a visit to Lee (aka Tangoman aka Xd in these parts) at Extreme Detailing for the full works of machine polishing the paintwork, a wheels off job to sort those, all glass polished and the interior all done too. Lee went very mich the extra mile(s) to get the ever so soft paint polished to his satisfaction, before the Gtechniq Crystal Serum Black was applied. I think he spent two full days on the paintwork alone For details of what Lee does see here: Protection packages - Extreme Detailing Limited
Here's a video Lee took which shows the results a little better than this photo I took does: https://www.instagram.com/p/BMq_op5jtDY/

I think just undersealing but I know they can sort stuff out rust-wise. Best to give them a call, I think.

Some detail about what he does in this thread: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/uk-irela.../#post21079703

Finally got the car out of hibernation. After being ripped off to the tune of £500 for the tax (let's face it, the old once at £295 was a rip off as well), I reconnected the battery, checked the voltage (12.36V) let the tyres back down to proper pressures, and it started first time, with a very slight reluctance.

Then it was a matter of getting the roof down and a gentle run the long way round to Wheels In Motion for some new tyres. The Tyres on the car were manufactured in 2008, so I'm guessing they were the originals, and they were a bit slidey.

After having a read of the tyre thread I decided to go for the Michelin PS4s. I've yobbed the car round my favourite roundabout, and can report that they are a vast improvement on the old Bridgestones.

Whilst refuelling, a chap remarked how clean and shiny my car was
