Default Is the Robbins replacement top already reinforced?

I finally got a chance to install a Robbins top that I bought last winter to replace my old one with the typical tears, and I was about to cut some squares from the old top to reinforce the new top with when I noticed this:

These circles appear to reinforce the exact spots where the tears usually show up behind the door windows. Nothing I read online mentions that the Robbins top is already reinforced. Is this a new feature that they added, perhaps dealing with warranty claims of wear in the same spots?

I believe so. I'll try to remember to check mine tonight, as it's brand new.

Robbins puts those on all of their canvas/cloth tops. They are not present in their vinyl tops. It is still good practice to sand the burs off of the frame that cause the typical s2000 top tears and repaint the part of the frame that you've sanded.

Lizard Skins are for bicycle chain stays. They are made of neoprene and have a Velcro attachment. Your local bicycle shop might sell them.

They've had those on the cloth tops for a while. Mine is over a year old and came with the reinforcement patches.
