Do the MPSS 245 tires fit the Volk 9" wide rear wheels well? It looks like they do on the data sheet at Tire Rack. I read a S2ki thread somewhere the other day where on poster suggested they look over stretched on the Volk 9" rear wheels.

I was boinking thru the trip odometer on my car yesterday and was shocked -- shocked I tell you -- to note I've put nearly 20,000 miles on the car in my 3 years of ownership! Only driven in the warm months. So much for my low-mileage 2006. She's pushing 60K miles now.

Went thru set of Bridgestone RE-11A tires. Running S-04 now (215/255). Car has no noticeable change in handling with the tire change. Still wonderful.

Hmmm. It must be how hard your miles are.

I just put on a set of s04 at the beginning of this season. April or something. I must have over 7k miles on them so far, and just looked at rears yesterday and no noticible wear yet. I'm sure if I pull out my tread gauge I could measure some wear, but point is they aren't anywhere close to half done. Tons of life left.

But my car is a 3 season dd. About 80 hwy commuting miles per day. I drive it like its meant to be driven, just not all the time. So a lot of the miles are easy miles.

Something to consider when considering the longevity reported by others here, how do their usage patterns compare to yours.

They're going to look a bit stretched for sure due to their sidewall construction. Either a very wide 245 or a normal 255 is your best option for your wheel width (if you want a squared off sidewall look) . But 245 MPSS will definitely work fine on a 9" wheel.

ONE complaint about the MPSS is that their on-center feel isn't as strong as other performance tyres...so they tend to kind of wander a little on road irregularities.

But...in terms of OVERALL performance, combined with everything else, it is pretty much impossible to find a performance tyre that is better than the MPSS.

I think the only way to root out a better tyre is to have a specific purpose in mind, and be ready to sacrifice in other categories.

After some more research/reading I decided to go with the new Continental Extremecontact Sport in 225/45 and 255/40 for these ce28s I have. I have them on the way.

I'm persuaded that these new Conti's will meet my needs performance wise and maybe they will last a little longer than some of the other options. Early reports re performance are very positive and put them essentially on a par with the Michelin tires.

I'm curious what your thinking is re running 215 vs. 225 in the front with a 255 in rear?

Typically 215/255 is result of a misguided attempt to emulate the CR sizing. Trouble is the oem cr 255 rear is actually closer to a 245 in any other tire. If you want cr stagger f/r balance, unless you are going to use RE070 (and who would today), IMO you should use 215/245.

Or like poster a couple replies above, upsize both ends to 225/255.
