SM55 AFV S2000 Cat B?
Hi there, does anybody know of a sky blue (not sure of the name of the actual colour) 55 plate facelift Honda s2000 GT with blue/blue interior with hard top registration SM55 AFV? This car has been written off as a Cat B and I'm now on possession of it. The damage is down as mechanical but the car runs and drives fine. There is a EML and I am yet to check the code/s and do a compression test but the engine sounds fine. It drives great. Bodywork, hard top, fabric roof, interior is all mint. About 45k miles on the clocks. I can't find a damn thing wrong with it and it's been cat b written off. Anybody know about this car? A damn shame to strip this car when it's the perfect one i'd want to own in my eyes.

Body shell should be crushed. Signifies extensive damage, although some parts are salvageable. Should never re-appear on road, although reclaimed parts can be used in other road-going vehicles.
From the RAC web site, I don't believe there is any way of reversing a CAT B.

Cat B is usually bad! I wrote my first S2000 off as a cat B, I tried to buy the car back but you need to have a licence to buy them as the chassis is not allowed to go back on the road like richmc said above.

Yes I am certain it is a cat b. I am a registered end of life vehicle station. The car was purchased from salvage auction as a Cat B, Primary damage stated was mechanical but there is no mechanical damage that i can see. No signs of water flood, cut and shut, previous repair nothing. Possibly could be a ringer, possibly it is a previous cat c/d and there is something wrong inside of the engine that we can't see or hear and that's what tipped it over. I have heard that it is possible to use it for motorsport use for 3 years then it can be re-registered and put back on the road with new vin tags but I feel this one will be getting stripped as much I don't want to as it is just too good a car. I was just curious if anyone is or knew the owner and what the history of it is and why it has been written off as such. The car is in Scotland.

Even a blown up engine would not get a cat B, a C or D as it wouldn't be economical to replace but that would be a mechanical issue not covered by insurance.
These cars don't need much of a knock to distort the chassis, and there's no way back from that. And you can't cut and shut a car with a chassis successfully.
