Default £10 for an o-ring?!

So cleaning out the throttle body and map sensor and I am blowing around the map sensor seat and blow out the o-ring. Lost in the engine bay somewhere never to be seen again.

A quick check on Lings - suggests a RRP of £7.31....

Are there any alternatives - I must be able to get a simple o ring from somewhere? Anyone happen to know the size?

Most garages or auto spare shops will carry O rings for a few pence

Love the engine bay - in theory everything should fall right out the bottom shouldn't it ? Never did find that fuel rail cover nut...

I have a box of Nitrile o-rings that come in very handy for occasions like this, they do most car jobs other than specialist uses where Viton or HNBR would be a better fit (e.g. Air Con) most motor factors will carry them for £12-£15 or so https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/pr...ducts_id=60122

Anything near the fuel rail is a nightmare and will never be found, ever.

Normally I wouldn't muck around with or Rings and stick to OEM, but the MAP one I'd happily use something off the shelf if you can get the right size. Problem is most O rings are sold in kit boxes, so you might get 100 or so, for £20 but you will then have a nice collection.

Haha

cant help on o rings but like the story

I dropped a bolt on an engine that wasnt even in the car.

2 of us couldnt find it.

We put the engine in a van, drove 80 miles, removed it, fiddled with bits and about a week later it was there on the floor, next to the engine.

Losing things in the engine bay is almost as bad as when you've got screws left over when you've put the interior back together

I've got 15p nitrate o-rings on my ID1000 injectors. Been on four years and no issue. ID wanted about £20 delivered or something stupid.

They just have to be the correct rating for fuel applications.

Direct gaskets in Hull got me them. Ring them and they can source or cut anything you require. Great little supplier.

They've cut me a gasket for my Tial bov when I lost that, new exhaust gaskets and an exhaust manifold gasket, well I cut that but they provided the material

I found that most are sold in boxes of 215! - I could coat the engine in burnt rubber with that lot!
