Default The Old McKenzie Pass Drive

.....................................McKenzie Pass Drive

.................................................. .

Saturday October 1st 2016 - Officially 294 miles and 5 hours and 30 minutes of drive time during the drive, however the starting point will be in Wilsonville, OR and end point will be in Salem.

Many of you have not driven McKenzie Pass and you don’t know what you are missing! Everyone come out, get some sun and have fun together!

We will travel down the Willamette Valley After our start point at Biscuits in Wilsonville (30020 SW Boones Ferry Rd, Wilsonville, OR for an optional breakfast at 6:30am with a departure no later than 8:00am .

And then head up the scenic McKenzie River.

The cut-off for the “Old McKenzie Pass” highway:

Along the way we will stop for lunch at "Takoda's". Then it is up through Breitenbush and the Mt. Hood National Forest.

There will be lots of twisties on the way up to the top of the pass. This is a fairly challenging drive

At the top of the pass we pass through lava beds.

The Dee Wright Observatory at the top of the pass:

Then it is on to Sisters and north through the Willamette National Forest to Detroit.

Its all over when we reach Salem.

Don’t miss out on this one!

Note:This is the Oregon S2000 Owners Forum. As such, our drives are exclusively forS2000's and their owners in Oregon and S.W. Washington.

Our drives are not open to the general public, which includes those who used to own an S2000, hope to own one, those with similar cars, or those who think the drive we've put together sounds fun and would like to tag along, etc.

We are not trying to be snobby here, but are trying to clarify what we are about – The fun and adventure of Honda S2000 ownership.

I truly hope my Friday night does not go until 11:59pm at work! That might make it difficult for me to be up by 6 to get breakfast!

Looking forward to getting this drive started!

I know some people won't like that, but I am planning on making the run no matter what. I will have just finished my fiscal quarter and I am going to need some decompression.

I would never tell anyone to go if they felt like the weather was going to make it difficult or uneasy for them. Everyone needs to feel comfortable in what they are doing. I know I will be taking it easier if the snow starts to fly.

I would totally love to go and Alexis too but it's her birthday party this Saturday and the lure of presents and cake beats the beautiful scenery and roar of VTEC, at least in her eyes.

Maybe I'll see y'all at the next one to the coast!
