Default Koni Yellow, with a stripped lower control arm mounting bolt

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a set of used koni/gc coilovers, and one catch is that a front shock's lower mounting nut is badly stripped. I wonder if I can grind the remains of the weld nut and just use a shoulder bolt and nut?

Cheers,
Han

I'm in the midst of contacting GC for a replacement shock, but I'm not sure if gc will fix up a 2nd hand set of coilovers.

That's what we did. Pretty common. Paint it afterwards.

We actually welded on the new shouldered nut.

Easy fix. Grind the welds off the factory nut, use a new one. Or weld on on...

they actually will. I've already spoke to Koni about the same exact scenario and they said it'd be fine. I think they must know its an issue because I asked if it would void any warranty if I grind off OE nut, and they said no. But they also said its not very cost effective for them to fix up used Koni's unless its to go complete custom, since replacement shocks arent that much to start with.

Thanks for the inputs. When buying used shocks, I wonder which part I should pay special attention to?

Cheers,
Han
