Default A good road to drive from Guildford to Brighton or nearby area?

As the title, looking for good roads to cruise from Guildford down to Brighton or somewhere nearby. I don't drive fast and want to enjoy the view, something nice for Sunday morning. Any suggestion is welcome

If you go across newlands corner and along to A25, just past Abinger you can turn right into the forest around the base of Leith Hill. Lovely scenery but you need to be up early to avoid the packs of cyclists who seem to think their in the tour de France.

From there you can find the A29 and head of towards Billingshurst and then A272 and on to Brighton. Some great scenery once you get down to the south downs.

Will the Lycra Brigade be out in force at this time of year? Their season might be over. A couple of my friends compete in the time trials and other cycling competitions. All on public roads.

They are out all year doing their time trials or whatever. The trouble is many of them don't give a f**k about other road users as long as they can shave half a second off last week's time.
There are considerate ones but they are few and far between.

A bit harsh Andy, I've always found the cyclists of Surrey and Sussex to be most courteous
