I have always wanted to build a kit car, and I have just started to research the possibilites. I have been looking at the Westfield XTR2, or the Megablade (Honda Fireblade Engine 12000 redline), but the Megablade comes

The text is straight off the web site, but is it bad english, or really, does it come without an Engine, without a gear box and without wheels and tyres, rr, does it come without the gear box and without wheels and tyres?

I'm a bit confused? What is the point in selling a complete kit without the engine and gear box?

I too was looking at the XTR2 a while back when things were not quite so tight finanically....looks like a serious bit of kit

yeah, but it only comes factory built with a new engine? all the other options for various modelsrequires you to purchase a re-conned engine.

How are you meant to build an XTR2 without the engine?

I had a chat with Westfield, they cannot supply the engines, because the original engine manufacturers will only sell complete bikes, not just the engine.

when I have the money I will definately do this, my S will have to stay out of the garage, but yes, I'm defo tempted. I'm even considering a partnership buy with a friend of mine This would be ideal, because he has a spare garage at his house

Megablade, megabusa and megabird are all the same chasis, it just depends what engine you want to put in it.

Megablade - Engine: Pre 1995 CBR900RR Honda Fireblade
0-60 4.1 seconds
Max Power: 128ps @ 10,000rpm
Max Torque: 90.83nm @ 8,500rpm

Megabird - Engine : Honda Super Blackbird 1100
0-60 3.9 seconds
Max Power: 165ps @ 9500rpm
Max Torque: 119.nm @ 7250rpm

Megabusa - Engine: GSXR1300R Suzuki Hayabusa
0-60 3.48 seconds
Max Power: 180ps @ 9800rpm
Max Torque: 138.29 NM @ 7000rpm

They all look like alot of fun. But maybe a Honda engine is the way to go?

They all have sequential boxes as well

I also think this chasis style looks much better than the caterham 7.

Caterham 7 style does nothing for me either although I did consider a Tiger but the rear doesn't have the ugly roll bar and the bodywork seems more moulded

What I like about the Xtr2 is it looks like a mini Le Mans sports racer

hey, I've just been to a kit car convention GF's dad has just purchased a Robin Hood 2B kit and also the 2.0litre Sierra for the donor car ( you need the engine, dash, pedals, steering etc etc).

I suggest you go to one of these conventions as there were all sorts of exhibitors with some of the strangest looking machines I've ever seen. There seems to be a lot of knowledge to be gained from these days if your interested in starting down the track of "kit car world".

I couldn't believe how many different types of cars there were. Looks like the main kits are Robin Hoods, Westfields, Tigers and the newer ones that look like that lovely Radical/XTR2 that has just eaten the Nurburgring for breakfast.

Do it, you know it makes sense ; )
