Ive read all the american posts, but they have totally different brands to over here and I'd like to know which brands you guys use... ie: car plan, turtle wax, autoglym, halfords budget wash 'n' go... etc .

The video helps a lot also, well worth getting / viewing if you get the chance.
My only non-Auto Glym product is Plexus, another 'must have'.

The trick to stop this is wash part of the car and then rinse it quickly. I tend to wash half, hose it down and then I use a water blade to get rid of the water. I then repeat for the other side and finally get rid of any remaining water with a shammy. It works well, you can get the waterblades from Costco for about a fiver, I believe autoglym have just brought one out which you should be able to get from Halfords and the like but its about a tenner.

Yes I agree with this totally. A hose is a big help.I pre-wet the car all over to loosen any caked on dirt. I then shampoo the top of the car, windows all round and the sides about halfway down. I then hose clean what I've done, before shampooing the lower half of the car, boot and bonnet. Washing the tail pipes at the same time keeps them gleaming.I then hose off again. I really take my time then over cleaning the tyre walls and wheels and running an old sponge around inside the wheel arches.I then hose the wheels clean and the car all over once more, before leathering off in the time honoured fashion. I do this once a week never more often. I have been known to miss if it's not too dirty. ;)

By the way my company edited the Auto Glym video and I ended up with the whole range. As you can guess I thoroughly recommend them but I'n stiil going toabout to give some Zaino ,that I picked up in the States, a go.

The 'but' I alluded too - despite being reall happy with Autoglym products, I have read all about Zaino on the boards, and cant resist trying it - so I have got a $120 orger lined up for collection whilst on my hol's in Florida in a couple of weeks (I have also been invited to visit a guy with a s2k fitted with a supercharger - this I am looking forward too) (my wife cannot believe that I am going to be spending my hol's looking at stooks and filling our luggage with car claning products :p

Our council did exactly the same thing, it sounded like someone was sandblasting the under side of the car     and one more for good luck
What do you do about stone chips? I've been using Honda's touchup paint applied carefully with the end of a cocktail stick. This tends to leave the paint a little proud so the use of a fingernail and wax helps get rid of the surplus paint. It's not perfect but stands up to reasonably close scrutiny.
By the way, has anyone tried Swiffer  cloths? This was mentioned by one of the US threads and I tried one for the first time tonight. It removed the dust a treat and because they are very thin material, unlike a duster, it's easy to get in all those nooks and crannies: for example the glass over the driver's display and the window switches. My only concern is how good are they at removing finger prints and the like. Also, my hands felt a little greasy after using it so I may find they attract the dust afterwards.
P.S. Got my Muz Mats today - what a differnce they make:D The Rutland meet helped me decide exactly what I wanted.

I got my Muz mats today too... Black with red trim and silver logo... + roof well mat.
They look great ! :D I almost dont want to tread on them.
I was amazed at how light the package felt.. like they had only put one mat in. I only ordered them on Sunday! - all that way from Australia to England in a few days. Thats impressive !
It was a full day of deliveries for me... I got a PS2 with GT3 this morning too from amazon... spent the evening playing with an mx5, dodge viper and a spoon. :D joy !

I agree with your comments on delivery time. I ordered my Muz mats the evening after the Rutland meet and lo and behold 8 days later DHL are banging on our door :D . Unfortunately we weren't in :( so they had to come back on Wednesday. At the time I couldn't believe it was the mats.....too quick!!!
Haven't got around to fitting the roof well mat yet - will do that this weekend after a visit to the GBBF, the London Eye, Vinopolis, "The reduced Shakespeare Company" and a curry :D :D :D :D :D
Not my usual weekend but I'm sooooooo looking forward to it.:D :D :D

I still like their interior clenser though.
I bought a starter and wash kit from Auto Fanatics on special offer.
The American products really are superb. A different class altogether.
The import duty is horrendous though:mad:

Ever since September of 2008, we have seen the fruits of the fiat money roots that Mises warned against almost a century ago. I was going to try some, before "bottling it" & going for the special offer that was on at Auto Fanatics: They'd screwed up an email shot & bombarded everyone with spam:eek: They offered a good discount by way of an apology.
I can therefore vouch for those products offered. They give a better result & the tyre dressings don't wash off instantaneously either!

I'm an ex Brit living in Calgary Canada. Whenever I come home to Peterborough Cambs, I always bring back lots of Auto Glym product with me. It does a great job..even at 13 quid for a big bottle of the polish! I wouldn't give up my A.G for anything.
