I get my S2000 at the start of September. :D :D :D :D :D :D

I've a little check list of things worth getting/doing and wondered if I've missed anything?

- Muz Mats - roof/floor. (Jon's look nice...)
- Roof Tube
- Plexus
- Sense of Humor for the insurance quote... (I got quotes 3 months ago... the quotes today have gone up nearly 10% :( )
- Check for spacers etc - all the delivery FAQ stuff. (I don't see any problems - the car's coming from Brindley Honda in Cannock who seem to know what they're doing.)
- Take out the headlamp washer fuse...

Anything else? Or any advice for break in. The conclusion so far seems to be:

- No Vtec for 600 miles.
- Easy for the brakes and clutch to bed them in 600+miles, maybe 1000 for the clutch.
- Vary engine RPM during breakin.
- Leave the initial oil in until around 6,000
- Don't change to fully synthetic until at least 12,000, if at all.

Any other comments, advice etc, is heartily welcomed.

Oh and anyone recruited by Andy Winskil to spam me while I was was dithering... you can stop now :)

-Brian.

Use Mobil1, you will have no problems.

Get some clear side markers.
Get a front grill to protect that vulnerable radiator.
An alloy deal pedal looks great.......get one.

Check the oil levels weekly.

Probably lots more things which I have forgotten, I am sure others will remind me ;) :D

Hi Brian,
First off - congratulations !! :D
I know you won't be disappointed. wise choice of colour.

- grin factor: ear to ear :D :D :D :D :D

Yep, the muz mats are neat.
Any thoughts on getting the Prestige Muz mats or regular ?

About the revs:
I was told not to take the engine over 5500rpm until 1,000 miles.
But I did a little earlier, entering the vtec zone at 900 miles.
Its up to you, but I certainly wouldn't like to vtec before 600.

To be honest, the sort of mileage you might do on a trip back home, you should be vtec-ing a week after you take delivery :D :D.

Also:
- dead pedal
- clear indicators
- front grill
- paint calipers
- horn
- hardtop

Thanks Andy, Jon. :)

Premier Muz on the way, top and tails.

Andy - what Mobil 1 are you using? I've seen a lot of different types...

I used the top Shell Helix in my ITR which is what they recommend for that... but fibre reinforced cylinders and forged pistols... hmm?

I might try asking the NSX owners - I think the NSX v6 uses the same fibre reinforced technology, and there are plenty of high milers around without problems.

Brian,

I use the 0w - 40 Mobil 1 (gold container).

I have hit 4,000 miles, finally the rings have bedded in and I am burning no more oil.

Everybody seems to have a different view on which oil to use. The majority seem to use this, so thats good enough for me.

I forgot the calipers, get 'em painted sooner the better.....looks great ;)

Mobil 1 0W-40 that I use is fully synthetic, only need to top up after a track day:).

You will probably need to top up @ 2000 miles, use a decent mineral oil , I used Mobil 10-30 as apparently that is what is in the engine when delivered (along with some break-in bollocks).

Mobil 1 isn't recommended by Honda as it's a pure synthetic, stick to the Helix as used on the NSX.

Gd you might want to amend that statement to Honda UK?.

I'm more than fine with it, and dealers mentioned in regular posts on here are recommending it, as does my dealer, since the dealer has changed from Reg Vardy to Springfield he has gone from Castrol to Shell as you state but the NSX mechanic who services mine commended my use of Mobil 1 (I bought it cheaper than the Helix they now tip into everything from the 1.4 civic to the NSX unless the owners asks why they are charging a 100% mark-up).

Apparently the problem with the pure synthetics is when the engine is cold they don't protect as well.

My dealer has three NSX mechanics and they all told me to stick to the Helix when I enquired about using Mobil 1.

Congrats,
One suggestion though, you might want to consider buying some static cling and 'tinting' your back window. It looks good, but the main benefit is that you don't need the tube. No disrespect to Muz (I own his Muzmat which is great btw) but I think this is the best rear window solution as I don't have to get out of my car anymore everytime I lower the top. Rear window has very little creasing and/or scratches. It costs about $5 here in the states. Enjoy!
