King Motorsports SS2000 @ Laguna
There were three other S2000's, One quite modified (j2k on the board) and the other two basically stock. The stock cars were running in the 2:00 range, but I have heard of stock S2000's in the 1:55's. None of the other cars had lap timers, so it's all a bit of guesswork... All of our times were logged with an Intercomp lap timer. The modified one was running in the 1:47 range with
285/30/18 Hoosiers in the rear and 245's in the front!!! He also had recently installed H&R springs, and has double-adj Konis and a larger Comptech front swaybar.
We were running stock wheels with 225/50/16 Kumhos all around, and I was able to lap consistently in the 1:45's with clean track, with the best of 1:44.64. I feel the car was capable of a high 1:43 as it sits. In January we will be running 17" Hoosiers on Mugen MF10 wheels, so it will be interesting to see how much the lap times drop. We're guessing in the 1:42 range when all is said and done, but it was my first weekend at Laguna so maybe there's even more time out there... we'll find out in January.
FWIW, we were apparently the fastest car there all weekend, including Road & Track testing the new Porsche GT2, several high HP cars (Vette's, Skylines, 911's) and most notably the NASA USTCC Series cars which were racing there for the weekend. The pole winning time for their race was a 1:44.9x.
It was an awesome weekend in an amazingly prepared car. Hats off to King Motorsports for building a street S2000 that can keep up with the big-boys on the track!

Jason - great report!
Sounds like the the King crew has done a great job with the car. From my experience with the car - I knew it was way faster than stock, but I didn't know it was THAT fast!
Looks like you guys had good weather - let's hope that Jan 14 is dry!
But please don't tell me you are going to run the "bling bling" wheels in January. My fingers hurt just thinking about cleaning those wheels.........
