new gears, when to change break in oil?
I got the 4.56 gears put in back in feb and have put on a whopping 500 miles on the car. I do drive "spirited" so I'm wondering if I should go ahead and swap out the diff fluid yet. Despite getting them directly from the group buy from Hardtopguy, they have been whining since installed and it has bothered me. I'm hoping that a fluid change might help things out.
Thanks.
Thanks.

It's a fairly easy process, so go change it. Examine the magnet plug and the old fluid carefully. Those will give you a pretty good idea how the diff is doing. I would suggest you change it again in another 1000 miles, then annually after that.
What kind of fluid you using?

that was my thoughts, I'm going to be under there doing the oil anyhow so I might as well. I can't remember what my installer said he used, I want to say it was either royal purple or red line. I'll probably pick up a quart of the Mobile 1 75w90.
What should I look for on the plug? I'm assuming as it is a magnetic plug I should look for metal flake/shavings. How about the fluid? Does the material becomes suspended at all in the fluid, making it cloudy?

But it should not contain any large flakes. That would be a bad sign.
The fluid could look like this, but probably not as black as you don't have many miles on it yet.
(New fluid on the right.)
Don't use Redline Shockproof. Not good for street use. Mobil 1 as you stated is good. If you aren't planning to use the car when winter comes, try LE 607. It's viscosity may absorb some of the whine.

I like the wine in the right glass please
I think Richmond recommends changing the oil after 600 miles with a new install.
Did you do the heat cycle?
