Cracked valve spring retainer.....
Went to do a valve adjustment and discovered a cracked retainer.
Now I'm wondering whether I should replace my retainers with new OEMs or should I go with a set of Ti retainers?
Any experiences?
Thanks guys,
Aaron

i recomend oem ap2 retainers.
i had to replace mine not too long ago.
i replaced them with oem.
TI retainers will need to be changed a lot more frequently then oem. about every 25k miles or so depending on the manufacturer.
it was a bitch when i did my retainers so i wouldnt want to replace them agian that often. not unless my car visits the track a lot.
as of today i am unaware of any cases of cracked/broken ap2 retainers on ap1 2.0 engines.

Another recommendation for ap2 retainers. I don't think we have heard a report of anyone cracking them yet, at least not with valve to piston contact, at which point no RPM will save you. Billman has stated this opinion and we all know how well he knows s2000's.
Has anyone has ap2 retainers crack on them yet, regardless of what motor they are on?
